Overview

Never mountain biked? Have kids who want their first off-pavement ride? Then this is your ride!

Need to Know

This trail can be unnerving with kids in the spring, during high runoff as the trail passes close to the Blue River.

Description

Beginning along the recpath east of the Breckenridge Recreation Center, find a narrow, crusher fines path adjacent to the river. Ride north across Valley Brooke Road at the recpath/road crossing. Drop off the singletrack east of the recpath, just north of the road and follow the singletrack north along the west side of the Blue River.

The trail crosses the recpath once and has several wooden bridges. From the roadway crossing, ride about a mile and 1/3 to Coyne Valley Road (a perfect kids shuttle pickup). Turn right on the road, and right onto the Blue River recpath. Ride 1/3 of a mile south, up the recpath to a singletrack on the right. Take the singletrack along the east side of the river back to the recpath. Ride the recpath back to the rec-center.
