Easy and not too long. It's not uncommon to see little kids and "never-evers" right alongside smiling experts.
This is a multi-use loop so be alert for hikers, equestrian riders, and motorcycles. See park restrictions for seasonal closures.
Overview
In just under three miles, Evan's Loop takes riders for a fun and easy ride that's one part gradual climb and a second part fun descent back to the start. The location within the park makes it easily accessible with parking, camping and vault toilet nearby.
Need to Know
Bring water. This area can get hot when the sun is out during the middle of the day.
Description
If you ride the loop counter-clockwise and start with
Broken Shovel (as mapped), you'll begin with a gradual incline portion through a dry creek, around some rock formations and finish with a gradual decline.
There are signs to help you stay on track, but the navigation is simple if you just keep left at each intersection. On
Lost Dog there are some rock obstacles, nothing too large and nothing that you can't ride around if needed. Depending on their comfort level, riders can get some real speed going down to the last section within the
Sea of Sage Trail, where there's some fun corners with dips. The total distance for the loop is 2.8 miles.
