All CA State Park and US Forest Service rules apply. Pack it in - pack it out. Check in at the gate upon entering the park and ask for a basic Beaver Creek Area guide map. Service dogs only but call Big Trees State Park first to be sure. Accessible late spring to late fall, depending on snow and weather conditions.

Description

This road starts just to the west of the "Ok Corral." It soon passes the end of Forest Road 5N07 and Forest Road 5N78 as it continues to descends to a bridge and on to the right. Follow 5N03 all the way to the top. You may hear cow bells from the range cattle, see deer, lots of little critters, and some bear tracks crossing the road.

Once you begin the descent down 5N03, you'll go only about 200 yards and see a signpost marking 5N06X. 5N03 continues downhill to a junction with 5N85, but it is recommended that you turn right onto 5N06X to return back to the Calaveras Big Tree State Park trails.
