Overview
Rolling hills and a mix of singletrack and fire road in a tranquil country setting, the rambling 728-acre Barnett Ranch Preserve is located in central San Diego County, in the Ramona Community Planning Area.
Description
From the parking area, head west on Deviney Lane to reach the start of the
Valley View Trail. A brief climb reaches the
Overlook Trail before the doubletrack drops around a knoll to reach the preserve boundary. Turn around and retrace your way back to Deviney Lane.
Head left to access the
Rattlesnake Trail as it descends gently through the prairie. The tread is mostly hard pack with some sandy spots. Near the end, the
Oak Loop Trail splits off to the left to access a picnic area while the Rattle Snake Trail continues up a brief rocky climb to again reach the preserve boundary. Head back on the
Rattlesnake Trail and return to the parking area.
