Start at the locked gate and the end of Birch Canyon Road. Pedal up the access road, the singletrack starts about 0.25 miles in on the left. The trail crosses the creek and access road several times.

Most of the creek crossings have bridges, but if the water is running your feet will get splashed a couple times. The trail has a few forks and byways that all reconnect. There are a few spots where you have to follow the access road a little before reconnecting with the trail but it's all well-traveled and obvious.

There is one drop-off feature about two-thirds up that has an easy bypass. Where the singletrack ends, you can ride a few hundred feet to the end of the access road. There is a trail continuing east, but it enters the Wilderness Boundary and is closed to mountain bikes.

On the way back down, the trail flows well, but speed is often checked by tight turns and there are a few low-hanging limbs.
