Overview
A multi-use nature trail with scenic lake views, historical markers, campsites, and technical terrain such as rock gardens, roots, steep climbs and descents, loose terrain, and small ditch jumps.
Need to Know
May require a paid day-use pass or yearly Corps Tag to park at trailhead during peak-season months. The east side of the trail, starting at the guard shack, is very technical and steep with very loose terrain to the valley then flattens out to Camp Lost Bridge.
Description
Start at the trailhead attached to the parking lot and following the marina cove. Expect a fun, slightly technical, shallow downhill followed by a climb up to the rural campsites and housing ruins. At the pond, the climb will be steep and winding, with several switchbacks.
The trail leads out to the RV campsites near Lost Bridge North guard shack. Ride just past the guard shack back towards the marina about 100 feet or so. On your left will be the trailhead for the east side of the loop that will descend steeply along loose terrain. Caution, the old steps have several steel pins exposed where steps once were.
Once in the valley floor, it's an easy singletrack to a fork. A left will head towards Camp Lost Bridge and a right will ascend a bit before circling around to the opposite side of Camp Lost Bridge. At this point, a spur trail can be found that leads to old rock steps that are directly behind the parking area.
History & Background
Trail leads to several rural campsites and ruins of turn-of-the-century housing before the lake was formed.
