Wear orange during hunting season!
Description
Use Strawberry Road and the trailhead at the end of that road to arrive at the
Crawfish Trail - Strawberry Road Connector. The connector leads to the beginning of this trail.
From there, the trail continues along a wet valley paralleling Reed Creek. The trail leads to an intersection with the
Walker Mountain Trail where Crawfish Horse Trail continues to the left. It then crosses the Appalachian Trail where a nice campsite is available. After crossing the AT the trail comes to an intersection with
Newman Hallow Road (FSR #6261), stay left to stay on the Crawfish Horse Trail. The trail then intersects with the
Bear Creek Trail. Stay left once more the trail opens up at this point on a old road bed. Keep your eye on the left side for a orange blaze and a trail that goes straight up the side of Little Brushy Mountain. This part of the trail will require some hike-a-biking.
Climb to the summit of the mountain where the trail starts to parallel the AT. Remember to follow the orange blazes, as riding on the AT is not permitted. A section of ridge riding begins where the singletrack crosses over the AT. Riders will find alternating fun descents with grueling hike-a-bike climbs.
Note that the trail intersects other trails at multiple places, and remember to stick left and follow the orange blazes. After all your climbing, riders are rewarded with a world class downhill over the last two miles.
