Family Friendly Relatively wide and moderate grades would make for a great kid or beginner ride. There are some large blowdowns but they're easily avoided.

Description

Beginning immediately behind the Red River Gorge monument sign, this old forest road has settled into its later years as a nice, well-traveled singletrack along a scenic and rolling ridge. There are many side trails to grand overlooks.

Eventually, the trail fades into not much more than a game trail, but for the most part this is a well-trodden trail that's a whole lot of fun. This can easily be combined with Tarr Ridge for a six-ish mile ride. If you ride these together with FSR #173, you can spend 2-3 hours enjoying this mostly overlooked corner of the Gorge.
