Need to Know

  • Most adventurers will leave their car in Roanoke and take the Roanoke Mountain Adventures (540.525.8295) shuttle service to the start of the ride in Harrisonburg. Some ultra-riders start in Roanoke, ride the adjacent RockStar GRAVEL route to Harrisonburg and then ride the RockStar Trail route back to Roanoke!
  • Douthat State Park is the route midpoint and is a great overnight option.

Roanoke Mountain Adventures currently only offers a shuttle for the race event.

Description

The RockStar TRAIL Route is a bikepacking tour of the trail systems in the singletrack rich section of the Blue Ridge Mountains between Harrisonburg and Roanoke, Virginia. The route begins at Black Sheep Coffee in Harrisonburg, goes through the Rocktown Trails at Hillandale Park, then backroads and fire roads up to Reddish Knob.

From there, the route pieces together premier singletrack trails to create a phenomenal and challenging bikepacking experience unlike any other. The ride concludes at the iconic Texas Tavern in downtown Roanoke a whopping 270+ miles later!

Fantastic route. Weather didn't cooperate (snow 2 days) but would be epic when dry. A little of everything--VA showcase! 285mi — 93h 06m
