Description

This is a fast multi-use trail that completes a long figure-eight loop. Start out clockwise along the bigger loop and then head counterclockwise around Shannon Lake. The part around the water is very scenic and flows nicely.

In the winter, the Shannon Lake Trails are groomed by the Eagle River Fat Bike Club. Check their facebook page for grooming reports and trail conditions, here. When there is snow, expect to share the route with hikers, snowshoers, and cross-country skiers.

A large section of the trail has been deforested. Stick to the singletrack around the lake.

The small loop around the lake is excellent singletrack. The big loop was mostly overgrown doubletrack. 6.5mi — 0h 57m

This is a rugged trail because of abundant rocks and roots. Quite technical, with many tight fits between adjacent trees and tight turns on slopes.… 6.5mi
