Paid parking is available at Rancho Casian (about 30-50 pesos) in a safe location with bathrooms and a convenience store.
Overview
This is one of the more classic rides from Nocturnos MTB. It has uphills to get your lungs pumping and downhills to get your blood flowing.
Early mornings bring great pictures without the heat. Rainy? It gets muddy, so be prepared to trek.
Need to Know
If parking at Rancho Casian, don't worry if you see no attendee. They are around... either find them before you go, or go ride and pay before you leave. You may encounter animals on your ride including cattle, horses, snakes, spiders, frogs, etc.
Description
There is paid parking at Rancho Casian off Highway 201. Don't worry if it's early and there isn't an attendant charging; they are working on the garden or close by, so you can pay before you leave.
Going right on the fire trail, you'll enjoy some gravel for a couple kilometers and warm up another 3 km while you stretch your legs getting to San Vicente Ranch.
At
Rancho San Vicente, you'll stay right at the fork, passing close to the ranch and through a bike gate. After a km, you'll turn right and come to the singletrack (
#14) with a sharp curve downhill and some loose dirt. Follow the singletrack to the fire trail and keep right and go around the mountain.
Turn left and enjoy the 1/2-km climb on the fire road. After you catch your breath, follow the singletrack on the left (
El Cliente) and it will bring you again to the fire road. Turn right and follow the trail back up... yup... uphill.
The fire road will take you back to San Vicente. Now you have to face the north side of the hills. Cross the road and follow the trail going up and down the mountain. Stay on the trail and go past La Roca.
Stay on the fire road and enjoy the "much deserved" 2.5-km ride down... really fast and fun. At the intersection, turn left for 1 "block" and then right back to the parking lot.
