Bipolar starts out rather calm. In the open field at the top of
Sunbridge Hills Conservation Area, turn south and go through the gate to continue down the old trail. When it gets flat, get ready for your turn to the right that heads down the hill. Again, the trail is very mellow as it follows a long-abandoned road bed. A few jump features have been added along this easy section. One can ride around them, but speed management and good air technique is important should you attempt to hit them.
Keep your eyes peeled to the left as soon as you see the path start to turn flat. The exact point that it goes flat is where the old road bed turns off to the left continuing downhill. Another air feature at this exact point is a good visual reference for the left turn. Here, it starts to get a bit steep, and it appears that the trail disappears beside a cliff. It does! So, slow down.
This is where the aggressive side of Bipolar begins. The trail goes steeply straight over the edge. Carefully choose your line through some chunky rock in the runout that has a slight right turn through it. It will flatten out where it intersects with the main loop so, watch for cross traffic.
After the intersection, there is a rock ledge to deal with. The "A" line is a steep drop straight off. Go left for the "B" line. Right after the ledge, on the "B" line, is another rock feature that is rollable or sendy. However, a go around is provided around the left side if you can't set up properly because of the rock ledge.
Everything below the ledge is steep but nothing like what you would have been through before the intersection. Whichever option you choose, they merge before a high speed G-out.
Bipolar intersects
Lowrider at this G-out. One can easily see northbound traffic as both trails merge in the downhill to gain speed for the climb on the other side of the G-out. Southbound traffic is easily spotted, as well, straight on up the hill on the other side of the G-out.
At the apex on the other side of the G-out, is the south end of Highrider where it intersects
Lowrider. Turning right onto Highrider is the most direct route back up. Continue straight on
Lowrider for more gradual options. One can even turn around at this spot and take
Lowrider to the south.
