Description

The trail begins after a foot bridge just south of the parking area. Stay left (cyclists are not allowed heading west due to wilderness restrictions). Lower Lake Fork Trail is a beautiful singletrack trail that follows the creek, winding through lodgepole forest. There are not many obstacles early on, other than water bars, that cross the trail. A very steep and short hill will signify more challenge ahead.

Once over the hill, be ready for a quick left followed by a few rock gardens to keep you on your toes. After that, it's smooth sailing into the Lions Camp where you'll pass right through back into the trees and into the old Richel Lodge, which is now a giant field. Across the rocky field, you'll cross a bridge that leads to the road that you took to reach the trailhead. This trail can be looped by riding back up the pavement to the trailhead or used as an out-and-back.
