This trail is essentially the westernmost trail in the Fort Stanton network that is near the Rio Bonito River. A trailhead and small parking area is located at the western end of the Rio Bonito Trail and the bottom of the Bonito Access Road.

Follow the trail markers in any direction. The petroglyph site is near the parking area, located just across the river near a tree with a long rope attached to it, presumably for swinging out over the river. The upper portion of the trail (northern aspect) along the ridge line is much more rocky and technical, so use caution when riding through this portion of the loop.
