The trail is shown on the map after you've climbed. Keep a close eye for the trail opening.

Description

This is a trail that is less traveled by newer riders. It is a rough ride with sketchy spots, steeps sections, and loose gravely bits all the way down. This will require a 3.5-mile grind up Skyline Drive Trail before the fun starts and will spit you back out onto Foothill Pkwy when you're done.

After climbing up Skyline Drive Trail for about 3.5 miles, look for the entrance to this trail on the left. It is somewhat hidden and can be easily missed if you're not paying attention. Your first clue is a rough opening of trail between bushes and a metal barrier and sign reading "NO MOTORCYCLE OR OHV USE".

Hop over the barrier and walk/ride up the hill for about 50 yards. Once at the top, open your shocks and slap on your helmet for the ride down the chopped up doubletrack. At the first fork, go right through the stone-lined pathway and begin your ride down through the gravely choppy mess. About 30 yards down, you'll meet a faint Y intersection but keep left and follow the tire tracks. You'll know you're heading the right way when you come into a steep section with one foot ruts and slippery terrain.

You'll crisscross Skyline Drive Trail several times during your descent but look for all the trail openings for the best experience possible, keep in mind you'll be in and out of Skyline Dr briefly throughout half the ride.

NOTE: If you were paying attention on the climb, you might have noticed a really steep rutted section on your left, keep in mind you'll be doing that at mile mark 1.48. At the 1.74-mile mark, you'll finally ditch the aid of Skyline Dr for good and make your way toward the infamous "Ski Jump" at mile marker 1.98. Use caution as the drop down is very loose and can cause you to crash before you even get to show off your air-time skills.

Follow through until you meet yet another Y intersection at the 2.20-mile mark. Go left here into the narrow opening between the bushes and zig-zag your way back to Foothill and back to the Skyline Dr trailhead.
