Overview
This quick loop is usually done on my lunch to build fitness and get some fun in. It features a good balance of technical MTB skills to maintain flow throughout the trails. Expect a fast descent on
Red Tape, which leads to technical climbing up through the rocks along the river.
Need to Know
Yield appropriately in this multi-use park.
Description
This is a good, well-rounded MTB loop ride. It includes a little bit of everything.
The ride starts with a warm-up climb from the dirt parking lot up the road to the trail entrance. This first section is some fire road climbing. Nothing too exciting, but it works the legs and lungs a little.
Next, climb to the top of
Rock Garden and descend to the
Access Road, taking a slight right to the entrance for
Palmer West on your left.
Palmer West crosses a trail to continue to
Palmer East. The log ride is a nice challenge. Coming off of
Palmer East, turn right onto the
Access Road and continue across the bridge to drop into
Hobo. There are a few junctions on
Hobo but if you follow the flow of the trail it will take you down to
Chute.
Turn right and take
Oly 2 on the left. Climb
Oly 2 to
Oly 1 and follow it back to the top of
Chute. Turn right off of
Chute onto
Lacamas Lake Access Trail and left into
CFC East. Turn left on
Woodburn School Entrance then a sharp right at the first junction. This connects back to
Lacamas Lake Access Trail.
Here, turn left and climb to the start of
Red Tape. A fast descent will take you to the bottom of the
Access Road. From here, turn left to follow the trail back up to the main park. Stay left at the junctions and continue up Potholes Falls (
Lacamas Creek Trail) and climb up through the rocks back to the dam and through the park back to the parking lot. Watch for hikers on this section.
