Overview

A nice doubletrack warmup to get to the techy, rooty Chicken Creek Trail #615, ridden here as an out-and-back with the option to extend further up CC as long as time or energy allows.

Description

Head east from the trailhead past a gate on a logging road, Dolph Kuss #178, that winds along the ridge atop the Chicken Creek Canyon. Take a left on the Chicken Creek Connector #177 marked with a sign (06/2018). A fast descent on the connector brings you to a junction with the Chicken Creek Trail #615.

From here, you can ride left or right on Chicken Creek Trail #615. This route takes a left, heading uphill for a little more than a mile and then turns around and comes back to the Chicken Creek Connector Trail. The connector makes an excellent climb. It's moderately technical with a 7% average grade.

From here, bear right onto Hamlin #179, which follows an old logging road and you'll hit Chicken Creek Road #385. Take a left and ride the FS road downhill to your car.
