Overview
A great climb up, then a quick loamy down, then back up. And so on and so on and so on.
Need to Know
Most hikers are nice in Stratton but get a big handlebar up their butt when they hike up Jack's. On Jack's, watch and listen for upcoming dirt bikes.
Description
Take off from Stratton Open Space parking lot. Head to
Columbine Trail, then The
Chutes. Take
Gold Camp Road to
Daniel's Pass Trail, which is stashed behind a berm. Enjoy the quick loamy descent—there's not to much to be worried about on this trail. Once you're down to the blacktop, go up
Gold Camp Road to Buckhorn, and be ready to die a little bit before finally climbing to the summit.
Get ready to have some fun on the downhill, which continues all the through to
Captain Jack's. Next, head back up
Gold Camp Road to the big bend past the parking lot, then to
Columbine Trail, and then enjoy our wonderful sketchy switchbacks all the way down. Once back at the base of the mountain, jump on
Columbine Trail again, and start climbing until you get a brief downhill before the Stratton Open Space parking lot.
