The trail is open sunrise to sunset. Camping by reservation. No motorized off-road vehicles.

Overview

Beside the five miles of multi-use trails, there is a raptor center where one can learn about birds of prey, a chestnut orchard, corn fields, and fishing at Lake Hashawha (state license is required and no swimming). There is an abundance of wildlife, including deer, mink, groundhogs, birds and many other species.

The Martin Cabin Homestead has been restored and the loop trail goes right by the cabin.

Need to Know

Some narrow bike bridges and plenty of intermediate technical stuff for mountain biking. The trails are poorly marked and sometimes overgrown so be prepared to explore and turn around a bit.

Description

Hashawha's trails are mostly singletrack, some doubletrack, and a few roads and/or dirt roads. So one can find any combination of level here from novice to intermediate riding.

This loop heads along the Stream Trail through the forest to the Wilderness Loop: Inner Loop and Wilderness Trail: Outer Loop. There is an option to extend the mileage by forgoing the Wilderness Trail Bypass (used here) out toward Saw Mill Rd E.

The Bear Branch Nature Center is open to the public for visits.
