Description
Honey Creek is a multi use area. Horses are allowed. There are lots of open areas to ride through, but most of it is among trees.
The trail is well marked with carsonite posts. Loop A is also the "Red" trail. There are lots of intersections with other access trails that we are allowed to ride. During summer, these other routes are not maintained, so there isn't much confusion with the addition of the signage. However, winter riding could require one to rely on the signs and the
MTB Project mobile app.
There is also a C Loop (not designated on the MDC maps) that is marked on the carsonite posts. It intermingles with the other loops and is maintained to the same degree. Those intersections do require one to pay attention a bit.
All of the trails here are service or access road type trails. And, for the most part, it is gentle, low-grade riding. One thing that most people will be surprised about are the steep parts linking these trails together. It would be entirely easy green level trail were it not for these sections. Technically, those sections should be rated as advanced because of the loose rocks and the grade. So I averaged the trail to intermediate. Either direction works as well as the other.
When the singletrack is wet, I'd say it's a better alternative to road or gravel. An interesting place to ride. Familiarity with the trail even opens the option of bringing a mid-travel bike and shredding the crazy steep parts.
