Need to Know

The trails that climb above South Ridge Rd. towards the Blue Ridge Parkway are hiking-only. Sleepy Gap and Deerfield Connector below South Ridge Rd. are bikeable to build shorter loops.

Description

Starting with the northern intersection with Hard Times Rd., South Ridge Rd. starts off as a gradual, rolling path before it begins to climb. There are false flats at miles 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5 before it peaks at about mile 4.3 where it descends to Bent Creek Gap Rd. (FR 479). This road is great to work into a gravel loop when singletrack conditions are poor.
