The administrative road is closed to bikes beyond the junction with North Elk Creek to protect wildlife.

ANNUAL CLOSURE of the North Elk Trail area occurs from March 1st thru June 15th for wildlife protection and to prevent damage during mud season.

Need to Know

While E-bikes are permitted within the borders of nearby Staunton State Park, please note that E-bikes are not allowed on any non-motorized trails situated on National Forest System Lands. This trail is located on National Forest System Land.

Description

At the corner of Bugling Elk Trail, head northwest on the doubletrack. The lower third of this route is pretty steep and is a good climb. The North Elk Creek Trail #764 intersects near the top and has a Forest Service sign and trail number.
