The regular access road may be blocked by the new building projects, but just go through ¨Carmen Vilches¨ and ¨Lauca¨ Streets.

Need to Know

This is one of the most easy to access downhill hills in Atacama, but even when is really close to the city, you must be careful with the sun, in summer, temperatures can easily reach the 93°F on a normal summer day.

Description

This is a pretty easy trail, is almost a classic in Copiapó-Atacama. Every kid since 1997 has been riding this little hill to test their new bikes and practice their skills. The descent has almost no obstacles and it lets you reach very high speeds.

But is not that easy. One doesn't simply ride down the Zig-Zag. The terrain in Atacama is really tricky, and it can reach really high temps in summer. Atacama's hills and trails are usually conformed by a really hard rock layer usually called ¨laja,¨ which is really hard and brittle. This rock layer is covered for dust and sand, add the heat of the sun on top, and you have the perfect terrain to eat away your rubbers.
