A fun rock drop at the bottom is a formidable challenge.
Overview
The descents and flat areas are singletrack action-packed, while the fire roads are used for climbing when your front wheel is dodging left and right. The rare, ridden
Old Emerald Falls is a hidden gem, especially for those who are tired of line choice.
Only a couple of technical sections make it a challengeable obstacle to thrill seekers or just a few bumps in the way of riding the rest of the singletrack. A fun feature awaits at the end of the descent on
Old Emerald Falls. A 2.5ft rock drop is avoidable, but a fun hit. In the last stretch, why use fire road when there's twisting singletrack beside it?
Missing Link and
Fenceline keep the fun coming.
Need to Know
Missing Link and
Fenceline may have traffic in both directions so go slow or just be ready to bail into the sagebrush at any time.
Description
Bomb down
Bommer Ridge Road past the turnoff for
Rattlesnake Trail and continue up the hill for a short time. On the left, there will be a turnoff with a small sign for
Lizard Trail. This is before the peak of the hill. Once speeding down
Lizard Trail, it may take some quick thinking to keep you on the path. You may be intrigued to stop and go try a certain section again. Near the bottom of the descending section, there are some fun built-in banked turns.
Some short climbing takes you to fire road where you climb and climb until reaching
Bommer Ridge Road. There is a map on the right side of the fire road. Turn right onto Bommer and continue up the hill. The turnoff for
Moro Ridge will appear soon.
Moro Ridge is a fire road and in less than half a mile, the turnoff for
Old Emerald Falls will sneak past you. Many have had to turn back after passing it. You'll climb two hills on
Moro Ridge, and as you descend the second fun hill, on the left will be the entrance to this
Old Emerald Falls. This winding trail takes you down a ridge with great views over the valley you're dropping into. Near the end of the turns is a rock section. A few more turns will bring you to a fun rock that can be a drop.
Flat singletrack leads to
Emerald Canyon Road. This is where the climbing will be the most difficult. At the top, a left turn will bring you to the east end of
Bommer Ridge Road. Follow it the same way as before, up to the hill and onto the trailhead of
Moro Ridge, but then take a right about 500 feet after the start of the trail to turn onto
Missing Link.
Continue on this fun, twisting trail alongside
Bommer Ridge Road and continue across
Elevator and
Slow 'N Easy which is perpendicular to this path. Across
Slow 'N Easy is
Fenceline. Much like
Missing Link, a fun varying trail. Turn right once this trail ends and go through the pole and sign structure to meet up with
Bommer Ridge Road. Turn left, climb the hill, and make sure to hit the roller on the way down. Continue on to the parking lot with pride.
