Overview
Great singletrack and doubletrack loop in the Owyhees with great views, a fast downhill, and a slalom course through Hardtrigger Canyon. Lots of fun.
Need to Know
Some steep, rocky climbs, fast descents, creek crossings, and lots of fun.
Description
Start off from the
Wilson Creek trailhead. Ride up Mr Wilson's Warmup (W100). After crossing
Wilson Creek, take a right onto NW Passage (W211 to
W200). After climbing to the top of the plateau at 4 Corners intersection, take a right to stay on
W200 to descend
Hardtrigger Drop. Halfway down, take a right to again stay on
W200. At the bottom, take
W261 or the road downhill into Stuart Gulch. Cross Hardtrigger Creek and look for a faint trail that is
W270 that leads into the cliffy Hardtrigger Canyon. Ride the singletrack down the canyon crossing the creek about 10 times.
At a fork in the trail, either take a left to hike-a-bike above a waterfall, or continue straight to cross the creek and climb a steep hill that becomes a 4WD road high above the canyon. Follow the 4WD road and take a right at the next major intersection to continue on Road 37152. Follow 37152 until you come to a gate that marks the start of a singletrack that shortcuts 37152 and 37159. You'll need to pass through a barbed wire gate. Follow the singletrack until you come to Road 37159 and again pass through a barbed wire gate. Immediately after the gate, take a right onto
W230 that gently climbs a ridge. Descend the ridge and take a right onto Road 37158. Cross
Wilson Creek and take a left on W37166 to return to the parking lot.
