Need to Know

The trail from the second singletrack onward is not very well maintained -- many fallen trees and shrubbery last time I was there.

Description

The singletrack turns north off of the fire road, immediately into a forest. It turns east and slowly descends along a forested canyon wall until it reaches the bottom, where you'll find a rope swing. Turn left and cross the creek, then head west. The trail follows the creek downhill, until it suddenly swoops upward, and connects with a fire trail again, near Dunsmuir House.

Take the the fire trail north through semi-forest, until it turns into a singletrack again. It goes slowly upward along the forested wall of another nearby canyon. This part of the trail can be very skinny, with a large drop to the left. Be careful. The trail does a switchback, and once again crosses another creek. It soon emerges back out of the forest onto another fire trail, there are some very steep climbs, and soon you'll reach the trailhead on Montwood Way.
