Singletrack to dirt road to paved road with a rewarding view. Expect very steep climbing.

Free parking at the lot shown as of this writing. Very popular area for hikers, bikers, and campers. Many other trail opportunities in this area to enjoy.

Start by parking at the large parking area just off Highway 79. Cross the road to find a singletrack trail heading north. Follow the trail until it intersects a dirt road and continue heading north.

The dirt road is rarely used; it is steep in some sections, may be overgrown, and has large and small loose stones. There are some very nice views along a couple parts and you may startle deer and turkey along the way.

The dirt road intersects a paved road. Going up takes you to the top of Cuyamaca Peak. This is a very steep road which may force riders to push, zig-zag, or crawl up to the top. There is a brief rest near the summit equipped with a bench where riders can gain their first view of the other side of the mountain - great breeze and view.

Continue the effort to the very top and enjoy the majestic views all around before returning to the start or finding another trail to enjoy.
