Bring water and a snack. Beware of rattlesnakes.
Description
This trail was accessed by climbing up the
Middle Peak Fire Road on the east and descended on the singletrack on the west side of the mountain. The reverse is possible, but not as fun, and climbing the rocky singletrack may be too difficult for new riders.
Upon reaching the top, you can hike to the actual summit if desired. Take a quick break for a snack and some water before slipping down the narrow singletrack path off the west side of the mountain.
The singletrack descent on the western side of the mountain begins with a lot of fallen timber that has been chainsawed to allow the trail to pass. The timber on the trail is quickly replaced by a long rocky section of large and small loose stones - full suspension is recommended, but not absolutely required.
Finally, the singletrack becomes much smoother as it nears the completion of the path and intersects the dirt road. From here, the rider can choose to turn left and return to the beginning or try a different route and new paths.
I've never ridden the eastern section of this trail. The Admin changed my original GPX to add it on. Please submit a comment if you know what it's like.
