Overview
This is a fun loop just outside of the town of Frisco that gives you multiple types of riding. The climb offers a fair amount of elevation gain with views of an old mining cabin. The reward is an amazing descent through an area affected by a forest fire in 2017, with the longest descent of a locals favorite,
Peaks Trail. A great loop for before or after work.

Description
Start off in the summer parking for
Miner's Creek Road (38). Climb 3.5 miles up Miners Creek. The first few miles are mellow with some shallow river crossings, and an old mining shack that is hard to miss. The last half a mile or so will be hike a bike for some.
Once at the end of Miner's Creek, the
Wheeler Trail will be straight ahead on the other side of a downed tree. There will be a sign posted giving directions to either Copper Mountain or to Frisco. Take a left towards Frisco. With a short peddle, it will be all downhill from there, passing through a big burn area, with some awesome views.
At the bottom of the
Wheeler Trail, take a left and continue onto the
Peaks Trail. You'll get to experience amazing forestry, small drops, and some easier technical riding.
After a few miles of descent, you'll come up on Rainbow Lake which is a must-visit in Frisco. Stay straight and head back to town, or hang left to
Masontown Trail for a little bit of extra credit.
Once on
Masontown Trail, you'll climb for a little over a mile. The climb is mellow until the last couple hundred feet which come to be fairly steep. At the top of
Masontown Trail you'll intersect
Mount Royal Trail and be prepared for the rowdiest descent of the entire ride. Be warned- you may only turn right as it is the only bike friendly-part of the Royal Trail. It is also a popular hiking trail, so choose wisely on the time and day of the week you go.
The
Mount Royal Trail is an advanced trail. It is nothing but technical rock lines on a thin singletrack, all while maneuvering around trees in the path. After a fun descent on the Royal Trail, take a right and pedal back to
Miner's Creek Road (38).
