Description
County Road Trail is a doubletrack that follows an old road along the western edge of Little Creek Park from Little Creek Park Rd. downhill to Trace Fork, where it terminates.
The average grade is about 6% with several steeper sections, mainly near either end, that approach 10% or so. It makes for both a fun descent to the Trace Fork as well as a nice climb from the creek back to the trails higher on the ridge. The middle section of the trail is more level and roughly parallels
Spider City. There are several access points to
Spider City along this section of trail.
Towards the top of the trail and before it reaches
Spider City , there is a small spur singletrack that jumps off of County Road Trail and on the up hill side of it for a short distance.
The trail terminates in a beautiful, forested bottom land along Trace Fork. Here Trace Fork runs along a rock cliff on the other side of the creek, leaving a wide, flat area on the inside of the bend of the creek that is shaded with tall pines. This area can also be accessed by the Cascades Trail, a short singletrack that descends from
Loop Trail not too far from the end of
Loop Trail that exits the parking area closest to County Road Trail.
