Anaconda Trail (#637)

Best access is down from Santa Barbara (elev. 1.170 m), taking Anaconda: The Upper Doubletracks (MTB #762) to the start of this singletrack (elev. 990m). Coming from Bolognano (elev. 120m), you can also bike up the forest roads (MTB #763), which is very steep at the end. You'll join Anaconda: The Upper Doubletracks (MTB #762) at elev. 1.020m, just 150 meters from its end.

The trail is steep and difficult; but there are a lot of harder trails around here, so I won't rate it as "Extremely Difficult."

(If the trail is still forbidden and you don't like the risk to pay penalty: There should be an new mtb-line leading also from St.Barbara down to Nago, called "Naranch-Trail". It should be signed.)

After leaving MTB #763, there is a short, flowy part, but it gets steep soon. The trail is earthy here and rooty. At a clearing, you'll join the hiking trail #637.

Soon you'll have to overcome a rocky and very steep section of about 50 meters. Again, expect some flowy parts, garnished with smooth slabs of limestone (dangerous when wet!), which will bring you to viewpoints, old bunkers, and trenches from World War I. Stay left here, near the edge (don't follow the hiking trail #637 to the forest roads on your right).

Back on #637, you have to work on the steep gravel and rocky steps, interrupted by a short, flatter section around a clearing (don't take the flowy trail to the left, Anaconda continues rocky, with a switchback to the right at #637!). The gravel haunts you until you reach the first houses of Nago.
