Description

Morrison Trail isn't biked very often, and there's probably pretty good reason for it. It is accessed from the Bear Creek Trailhead between Dolores and Rico, CO. It begins by going pretty much through the backyards of private residences and then it climbs steeply on singletrack that may or may not have been cleared of downed trees.

Switchbacks are tight and you probably will hike-a-bike for sections. It is not technically demanding for the most part, but it does climb consistently for the first 2.5 miles.

Depending on your strength on a bike, this five-mile section could take you up to two hours to complete. This trail does have moto bike access but I have not encountered any bikes so I'm not sure how much it gets used.

If you continue on this trail it becomes a tight singletrack through the woods that eventually drops goes across Fish Creek and then expect a climb with some HAB back up to the mesa where it connects with the Aspen Loop and goes through a fantastic Aspen stand.
