Dogs Off-leash
Description
This trail runs between
Young's Nature Trail and
Old Roads Trail. It can be ridden in either direction, but the climbs are much more gradual when coming from the Young's side. It begins with a fun descent into a creek bed with a challenging short climb up the other side. You'll continue a more gradual climb up a valley for about 1/8 of a mile or so before turning left and getting slightly steeper. You'll continue climbing with a couple switchbacks before cresting the hill to a small flat area.
The trail will then begin downhill and turn right into another valley where it will be a bench-cut trail for a while. The bench is narrow with a couple areas being even more narrow, and with exposure to a pretty steep drop-off on your left side. There will be one very steep short drop into a drainage valley that will challenge all but the most skilled riders. There will be a slight climb for a while into some rolling sections and switchbacks.
The trail will then straighten out and lead into the first of two steep descents. The first is a fall line descent that can be loose and is moderately rooty. This leads into a fairly sharp right turn then straightens out for a fast descent to a sharp left turn. The trail will go from gradual and smooth to another steep and rooty fall line descent.
The descent leads into a roll out as you connect with
Old Roads Trail which will be on your right across the creek or straight because Black Bear becomes Old Roads at this point.
