From a partnership between the BLM and a location non-profit ATOS comes "Area 51." The trail has just been rehabbed with the help from ATOS (Aztec Trail and Open Spaces) and CCNM (Conservation Corps New Mexico) and is still very soft in many spots.

Just past the northern point on the Outer Limits turn right. The trail will be marked with a brown BLM carsonite sign. After a short climb, the trail will pop out on top near the main dirt road. After paralleling the road for approximately 100 yards, the trail will turn left and cross the road. Continue straight past another trail marker onto a site access road for another approximate 100 yards.

As soon as you enter the site, the trail turns left by another marker down the hill. This is the last intersection for about three miles. The trail traverses the west side of the mesa with amazing views of nearby mountain ranges and down canyons.

The fun ends when you reach the main dirt road that you crossed about three miles back. Make a right turn then immediately turn left onto another site access road. Climb the hill for a short distance and turn right back onto Outer Limits.
