Love Kokopelli Trails in Fruita? We have Dry Creek Canyon here in Montrose! This loop will take you on an easy pedal up Tabeguache Trail (Jeep Road) to a sweet singletrack descent on Ewok Village, then a short fun return.

Plenty of black diamond features on Ewok... very rideable but can be loose and challenging in some places. Great flow sections, however, it is earned with a few hike-a-bikes. All around solid ride and definitely worth doing at least once!

Bring plenty of water. This is a remote area with no or limited cell signal. See important information on 4WD parking in the description.

From the 4WD parking lot in Dry Creek Canyon (see Access Issues on whether you should park here), follow the Tabeguache Jeep Trail (Tabeguache Trail - Dry Creek Section). On the left you'll see the optional detour on Ralph Files Bridge that will get you across the creek via metal bridge then quickly links back up. You'll do most of your climbing on this doubletrack.

Continue past the turn for Piney Creek and look for the sign for Ewok Village on the right. This is where the singletrack fun begins. You'll get a taste of the trail before meeting your first hike-a-bike but don't worry, plenty of good stuff awaits.

After a couple miles of flowy tech (along with some short, punchy climbs) you'll see your exit. Take the Ewok Village North Cutoff to Lower Piney Creek. It will then link you up with Red Wall Trail (hang left) that will take you back to the Tabeguache Trail and parking lot. This last section is up and down singletrack with cool views!

Keep your eyes peeled for the caves on Lower Piney Creek to Red Wall and admire the unique landscape.
