Description
This trail is not technically difficult and should be a pleasant, easy way across the Grand Mesa as an integral part of the
Plunge to Powderhorn.
Take note of the following cautions:
The trail is at 10,000 ft, and nothing is really easy at 10,000 ft if you aren't somewhat acclimated.
The trail is exposed with very little tree cover although there are a couple stands along the way.
The area is used for cattle grazing, so you might find the trail bed trundled up.
The Grand Mesa is a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
The trail entrance from
Lands End Road (100) is not obvious. Look for it behind a couple of buildings at the forest line. The buildings belong to the Raber Cow Camp interpretive area, which is the name of the parking area at the start.
At the far end of the trail, you'll pass by a couple of small reservoirs. The reservoir might be backed up a little to make the trail very boggy for a couple hundred feet.
There is a small camping area when you cross Anderson Reservoirs Road where the trail meets
Rim View Trail #533.
