Description
Lee's Loop is a beginner-friendly trail. There are some sections of mild climbing but it's relatively flat compared to many of the trails within River Bluffs Trails Park.
Users can access the trail from two locations. One is from
Chimneys at the south end of the loop. The other, as presented here, is from a trail hub on the
Crushed Limestone Trail.
Jekyll & Hyde joins the hub from two directions and Lee's Loop branches off between the two. A short spur brings one to the loop itself and users can go in either direction. Going left is the direct route to the overlook and picnic area. Going right lets riders complete the loop before the reward at the top.
The loop begins with a gradual descent when traveling counterclockwise and there is an incredible view even this close to the beginning. Soon the trail starts a gentle climb which includes a pair of switchbacks. Just past there, as the trail turns to the left, is where the loop has its intersection with
Chimneys to the right.
From here, the climb is a bit more moderate with a few more switchbacks leading one to the top of the hill. At the top are benches that provide amazing views in cooler times of the year. Even in the summer the foliage from the trees below still don't fully obscure the view. At the north end of the ridge is the picnic area and beyond that the trail descends with a pair of switchbacks to the spur to the trail hub on the gravel trail.
