One Way Only: This is designated as a directional trail.

Description

Halls Valley Trail is designated 'Bikes Uphill Only' in this direction on the official park map, and is a nice and more direct alternative to the Yerba Buena Trail to reach the higher elevations on the north side of the Joseph D. Grant country park, particularly if you wish to access the Washburn Trail and Pala Seca Trail etc.

The trail starts after a short ride north along the east side of Grant Lake from the parking lot, dropping down to the right and crossing over a small [dry] creek before climbing steadily uphill. Although it is a little steep in places, the steeper portions are not as severe as the steepest parts on the Yerba Buena Trail , and this trail is designated as an uphill only for bikes.

Once up on the ridge it intersects with the Cañada de Pala Trail offering access to the rest of the park in either direction.
