Do not cross the fence or boundary onto Taos Pueblo lands, respect any signs indicating an adjacent road crosses the boundary. This area is adjacent to large swaths of undeveloped wilderness, bear and mountain lion encounters are possible, plan accordingly.

As an active motorized route used to access a firewood cutting area, expect to encounter other vehicles. While dogs are technically allowed off leash on undeveloped Carson NF lands, it is not recommended here due to possible encounters with wildlife and motorized vehicles.

This is an active motor vehicle road, e-bikes can access this route. It's especially appealing during autumn when the aspens are showing color.

This route begins on the north side of Hwy. 64 on the west side of Palo Flechado Pass. Forest Road 70 is a well-graded, typical forest service road ascending through a meadow into mixed aspen and conifer forests for about a mile then begins to get steeper and rougher before becoming 706A which continues to a cattleguard, the route is mapped to this point.

Continuing along 706A1 the roads appear unmaintained and leads across the top of Baca Canyon, beyond wherein maps show several old forest roads which may link to the Capulin Canyon trails.
