Description
Laurel's Trail begins off of
Middle Ridge Trail as one travels north from the 4-mile trailhead. It is a little under a mile from the trailhead and bears to the left when
Middle Ridge Trail turns right and begins to climb towards the top of the mountain.
Laurel's Trail generally parallels
Middle Ridge Trail running north a hundred or so yards further down the hill. It crosses both
Black Bear Mt. Bike Trail and Johnson Hollow trails before terminating at Log Town Trail. Take Log Town back up the hill to
Middle Ridge Trail. Note
Johnson Hollow Trail is open to bikers only from its intersection with
Middle Ridge Trail to its intersection with Laurel's. It is not open to bikers below Laurel's.
Laurel's is generally flat to following, but it does have several short, punchy climbs and descents, especially on the section between the start and
Black Bear Mt. Bike Trail. The trail is rocky throughout and is generally technical, pedally riding. There are several larger features and rock rolls: one being between
Middle Ridge Trail and
Black Bear Mt. Bike Trail and another being a large rock that has several lines to drop closer to its end near Log Town. There are ride arounds for all of these features.
The trail also can get quite overgrown in areas in the summer, which makes the tread and rocks hard to see in places. All-in-all, it is a challenging, interesting piece of trail to ride.
