Description
Class 1 Trail. Quaker Bridge Rd. and Hampton Rd. are very well maintained roads, no sand pits, no puddles, and only few pot holes. Starting on Quaker Bridge Rd., which is a bit sandy (any 4-wheel drive car can traverse it) but it is a smooth ride to the famous bridge.
Once at the bridge, assess your group's skills, if everyone did OK, continue on to East
Stokes Road with its moguls and a rougher trail. If not, simply return to the Ranger Office.
After
Stokes Road and its fun moguls and beach, turn on to Hampton Rd., which is a hard packed dirt road for a fast, easy ride back.
The wetlands consist of red maples, pin oaks, and Atlantic white cedars and swamps along meandering tannin stained creeks. Upland forest with dense blueberry shrub layer create cover for game animals and song birds.
