Upper Animas Mountain trails closed for wildlife December 1 to July 31st. Lower Animas Mountain trails (from Aquila to the south) are closed from December 1 to April 15. Watch out for hikers.

Description

The Swerve trail is designed and built as a downhill flow trail with generally smooth surface and rock hardened bumps over roots.

The Swerve Trail meanders down Animas Mountain through the pines, scrub oak and charred logs from the recent prescribed burn. The banked turns and short hilly sections have an fun, flowy feel.

Nice glimpses towards the south over Durango and the surrounding hills.
