Grandview Ridge trails are subject to winter wildlife closures.

To protect wintering wildlife, the BLM Tres Rios Field Office annually closes trails to all access in the Durango area from Dec. 1 through April 30 (possible to open April 15 if conditions warrant). For the latest information please call the BLM Tres Rios Field Office at (970) 882-1120.

Description

This newly constructed trail saves some elevation gain/loss and distance vs the South Rim Trail proper. The South Rim Extension cuts across the mostly level mesa instead of following the edge of the cliffs. Smooth, partially shaded trail.
