Grandview Ridge trails are subject to winter wildlife closures.

To protect wintering wildlife, the BLM Tres Rios Field Office annually closes trails to all access in the Durango area from Dec. 1 through April 30 (possible to open April 15 if conditions warrant). For the latest information please call the BLM Tres Rios Field Office at (970) 882-1120.

Description

This trail has been rerouted and shortened considerably to make way for the expansion of the gravel pit excavation nearby. Currently, the Sale Barn trail climbs up from the parking lot, then crosses what looks like an old dam before switchbacking up the cliff to reach the mesa.

The namesake Sale Barn is long gone. The original Sale Barn Trail was purpose built in 2000.
