Need to Know

Dirt Wall Trail functions as an approach trail for climbers and and hikers starting at the main Box Canyon trailhead. There are clear sight lines, so please be aware and respectful of other users.

The trail is only recommended as a downhill route on MTBs, but is bi-directional for other user traffic.

There are bathrooms at the Box Canyon Trailhead.

Description

Dirt Wall Trail is a steep and technical trail descending off the ridgeline. It includes rock slabs and rock steps. The upper segment is relatively flowy with good views to the west. The lower segment is steep with tight stepped corners and earns the double black rating. The trail includes significant exposure at key spots so caution is recommended, especially the first time you ride it.

Dirt Wall Trail adds some loop options and variety to the Box-Enterprise trail network. It can easily be looped with Gramont Peak Trail and Descansos Trail using the gravel road at the western end of the trail.
