Overview

This route climbs Dead Ringer then descends JEM and Goosebumps. It offers a fun, flowy climb with a long descent and one technical switchback called the JEM Drop. This particular section is extremely difficult to ride but can be walked. The rest of the downhill is a fast and easy roller coaster that is sure to put a smile on anyone's face.

Need to Know

Do not ride this trail when it is raining or if it is muddy; it will ruin the trail.

Description

Start at Sheep Bridge Trailhead parking lot, enter the trail to the right of the bathroom and take it to Dead Ringer. Pedal up the well-built Dead Ringer singletrack. Nearing the top of this trail, you'll reach an exposed section of the ascent where slipping to the right could ruin your day. You can safely walk this section if you are uncomfortable riding it.

The summit of Dead Ringer is where it intersects with More Cowbell, a spot that is hard to miss thanks to the cowbell that hangs at the junction. You can take the trail left or right to eventually connect to JEM. JEM Trail will then descend with fun sequences of rollers and small drops.

When you reach the small cattle grate that banks left in the trail, you have reached the JEM Drop. This is a series of two steep, loose switchbacks with stacked limestone that hold the track together. It is the most challenging feature of the trail but it can easily be walked. After the drop, turn left at the bottom and follow the wash until it reconnects with the JEM trail. Cut off JEM when it intersects with Goosebumps (take the right onto Goosebumps) and enjoy a long, flowy rollercoaster ride back to the car.
