Overview
This is a 2.6-mile loop that winds along a breathtaking edge overlooking St. George. The route climbs
Turtle Wall Trail, passing a huge roller called "Godzilla" and continues onto
Paradise Rim Trail, featuring a downhill staircase with optional drops and jumps. As it's also a popular hiking trail, keep an eye out for hikers along the way.
Need to Know
Throughout this ride you'll likely share the trail with hikers, so remember to be respectful and slow down when passing them.
Description
Begin by parking off Cascade Canyon Road at the Gap Trailhead. Cross a small fence designed to protect the endangered desert tortoise. Ascend a short hill and veer right onto
Gap Trail, following it for half a mile until you encounter a notable cliff band system with drops ranging from a few feet to around 8 feet tall. Take a moment to explore these features, just or pedal past them into Halfway Wash. Turn left continuing a short distance until you reach
Turtle Wall Trail, marked by an obvious arch looming over the trail.
From here, ascend Turtle Wall on slickrock paralleling a large cliff band until eventually reaching the top of
Paradise Rim Trail. During this climb, if you look to your right, you'll spot a towering 40-foot roller known as the Godzilla feature, which some adventurous souls choose to bomb down.
Upon reaching the top of
Paradise Rim Trail, turn left and follow the trail down a wide rocky staircase, eventually returning to the parking area. Keep an eye out on your right for a notable diving board feature that can launch you off a 5-foot drop. A small roller exists on this line as an alternate, in case you don't feel like hucking it to the awkward landing below.
