The trails are not too technically difficult, okay for newer and smaller riders.
Overview
Fun, flowy descents with a few sections of old school hand-built trail. Phases is usually ridden in "laps." Consider this route the best 4 laps to see the most of the area and descend the best trails.
Need to Know
Phases is the first area in the valley to melt out. It is usually running by the first week of May.
Description
Start the ride pedaling up
New Quarter until you hit the main access road. Take a right and wrap around on the road. Be prepared for a steep finish to the climb. Once there you'll be at the top of
Phrooty Pebbles. Phrooty is flowy trail at the top and has a few interesting rock sections towards the bottom. There are some fun "A" lines before intersecting with
Phased and Confused.
At the intersection, take a right and head towards the
Salad Bowl area. You'll climb Salad
Salad Spinner and cross over
Fruit Loop (making a figure 8). Enjoy a couple technical spots on the climb until you arrive at the top of Fruit Loop.
Starting the descent, you'll have some fun rock rolls and split line features. Pick your own adventure all the way down
Fruit Loop and continue on to
Salad Bowl (west). Pass the bottom of
Salad Spinner and continue back to
Phased and Confused, then climb this trail. Enjoy this quick and rewarding climb back to the original access road on the front side of Phases.
Descend
Brush Pile and climb back up the access road past the top of
New Quarter. You'll ride for another half mile and take the right access road at the Y. This will take you to the top of
Ridge Runner. Here you'll get some amazing views of the valley and a technical, slow decent down the first part of the trail.
The end of this portion is flowy with some fun doubles (that are easily rollable). Head back down
New Quarter to the trailhead. Lots of folks like to climb and descend
New Quarter, so keep an eye out for uphill riders and people hiking.
