Description
This trail is commonly used as a climbing alternate to
Powerline Trail. It is longer but has a lower and consistent grade. It has some technical rocks and ledges but overall you can stay in the saddle. To get there, take a right on either the upper or lower
Valley Loop Trail trail sections. You'll pass over power line trail to the north (lookers right from the parking). If you took the lower Valley Loop section, take it until you climb a touch and head back south. If you took the upper valley loop section, the trail heads west/uphill just a hundred yards or so after you intersect power line trail. After the climb you'll intersect pack in to
Powerline Trail where things flatten out.
It is shared with both hikers and horses and can be used as a downhill trail as well. There are line options for variable limbing experiences and flow going down. Per the City of Fort Collins "Discover Bobcat Ridge Natural Area! Youll find a grassy valley, foothills, ponderosa pines, stunning red rock cliffs and more. Bobcat Ridge is home to elk, wild turkey, mountain lions and other wildlife. Several historic homestead sites dot the landscape."
