Need to Know

Access from the east via Tizer Lakes road is rough and not suitable for most vehicles.

Description

Iron Mine is a singletrack trail that connects Muskrat Creek in the west with the Tizer Lakes Road in the East. Because of its high elevation and north facing aspect it is slow to dry out in the springtime. It is often used as an extension on an out and back on Muskrat Creek Trail, or as part of a route called the "Tizer Traverse", which is a South to North traverse of the Elkhorn Range. The trail is a challenging ascent going up on the eastern side from Tizer Road. From the highpoint of the trail, it is possible to find a route up to the summit of Mt Elkhorn.
